ABOUT THE STUDIO ON THE SQUARE

a creative space for artists of all ages

Founded in 2022, The Studio On The Square set out to create a community center for artists in the area to grow and thrive.  Mary Kate Smith, founder of TSOTS, envisioned a building where people of all ages could come together to create and grow, not just as artists, but as a community.

In the year that The Studio has been opened it has grown to include several other teachers and mentors, each bringing their unique skills and backgrounds to create art, music, and movement together.  For the thriving community that is centered around the historic Petersburg Square.

Now offering regular music lessons each day of the week, as well as a variety of classes in dance, theatre, fitness and yoga...the studio is also home to community gatherings and events - hosting everything from a food pantry to celebratory gatherings for community and school groups.  The Studio also houses a beautiful natural light photography studio, as well as monthly events each aimed at community growth and creative development.

A life-long educator and performer, Mary Kate's vision of creating a space for growth and artistic development right in her own backyard has come to fruition with the incredible support of local community members and businesses.  A thriving cultural center, downtown Petersburg hosts several other businesses, shops, and restaurants that make a venture to Petersburg for a class or a lesson well worth the beautiful drive.
